Problem Description
The main reason for the error was the possibility to change the Packaging type for an existing Packaging ID assigned to a specific released product. This change was possible on the Shipping packaging form, which caused inconsistency in the configuration.
Details
- In the system, there is a Packaging types form where we define the Packaging ID and assign a specific Packaging type to it.
- Then, the same Packaging ID is linked to the product at the Shipping packaging level. Where the Packaging type was possible to change.
- Previously, the system did not allow creating a new Packaging ID for the same product, even if a different Packaging type was selected.
Example:For product AAA, Packaging type = Disposable was assigned. An attempt to create a new Packaging ID with the same product but with a different type (e.g., Invoiced) was blocked. As a result, the only way to handle a customer who required invoicing for the product was to manually change the Packaging type at the Shipping packaging level.
Current solution
In the current version, this restriction has been removed:
- It is possible to create multiple records in the Packaging types table for one product, provided that the combination (Packaging ID, Item number, Packaging type, …) is unique.
- However, it is not possible to change the assigned Packaging type at the Shipping packaging level.
Effect
Consistency of configuration has been ensured and correct handling of different scenarios in the system is now possible.
