Cepheo Advanced Quality and Sample management and Microsoft Test Instrument Calibration.

In July 2025 Microsoft release the module Test Instrument Calibration, which in short allows a user to register test instruments and calibration instruments to use in quality work. A counter can make sure, that instruments are calibrated or replaced after a specific number of usages or a specific time.

Read more about the module here:

We have integrated with this module so that Cepheo Advanced Quality and Sample Management (QSM) is also able to use this.

General parameter

To activate the test calibration as an option you need to use the same settings under inventory management as instructed in the MS manual. There are no extra parameters to toggle to make it available for Advanced Quality.

Test instruments in standard quality and QSM

Even though it is possible to use the test instrument functionality in standard quality and the QSM module at the same time, it is NOT recommended to use both standard quality and QSM side by side as also stated elsewhere.

Test instruments on test groups

As explained in the MS Learn article, you can choose a test instrument on your test on the test group.

The test instrument type is linked to one or more test instrument tags, which can be selected automatically or manually when performing tests.

The test group triggers tests with the assigned test instrument, and the way test instrument tags are assigned follows the rules explained in the MS article.

You can override the chosen test instrument tag manually.

The usage count will go up as soon as the whole Advanced quality order has been validated.

Message / Error when using test instrument

As also mentioned in the MS article, you will either get a warning or be prevented from using a test instrument tag which is bound for calibration or has reached it lifetime limit.

Test instrument tags on the WMS app.

One of the many unique features in the QSM module is the ability to do quality work on the WMS app.

The quality work can be automatically triggered or picked using detours or designated menu items.

While entering test results you can see and change the test instrument tag.

Of course an error will also be presented if the user tries to choose a test instrument tag which is bound for calibration.
