Limitations and Compatibility with Standard Features

Introduction

The Cepheo Quality and Sample Management (QSM) module is designed as an advanced and highly specialized solution for process manufacturing, extending the standard capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. Due to its unique process architecture, this module utilizes dedicated data structures for parameters, associations, and quality orders to meet complex Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) requirements.

Lack of Support for Standard Sampling Plans

The Advanced Quality Control functionality, which is an integral part of the Cepheo QSM module, operates independently of certain standard quality management mechanisms available in Dynamics 365. Specifically, Cepheo Quality and Sample Management does not cooperate with or support the following standard sampling features:

  1. Acceptance Sampling - The standard Dynamics 365 Supply Chain feature, which uses statistical analysis and Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) charts to evaluate batches based on specific code letters and sample sizes, is not integrated with the Advanced Quality Order (AQO) processes; see: Acceptance sampling - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn
  2. Flexible Sampling Plan - The standard logic that allows for dynamic changes in inspection intensity (shifting between different inspection levels based on pass/fail history) is not compatible with the Cepheo calculation engine; see: Flexible sampling plans - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn
Technical Justification

The Advanced Quality Control solution uses its own dataset to provide deeper integration with Warehouse Management (WHS) processes and advanced tracking for batches and License Plates (LP). The primary reasons for this lack of integration include:

  1. Independent Order Engine - The system generates Advanced Quality Orders (AQO), which possess a distinct logic for status updates, test priorities, and validation compared to standard quality orders.
  2. Dedicated Item Sampling - The Cepheo module utilizes its own Item Sampling setup form, which is required for the correct operation of features such as the automatic release of license plates and cascading inventory blocking via disposition codes.
  3. Quantity Calculation Logic - Algorithms for calculating sample quantities within the QSM module (including specialized formulas) are executed through specific Cepheo procedures that do not recognize or trigger parameters defined in standard D365 SCM acceptance sampling plans.
