Packaging management as part of transfer orders

When creating a transfer order, manually or by firming planned transfer orders, the automated process of packaging calculation will follow the setup for warehouses in question.

The transfer order will on the “Set up” menu show the setup being used for the order and according to the calculation being selected, also show the calculated and registered packaging in fact boxes,

The fact boxes can be setup showing packaging for the order based on different filters related to the order lines. For outbound packaging, the setting can be:

Transfer quantity – Packaging calculation based on Item and transfer quantity

Ship remain – Packaging calculation based on Item and transfer quantity setup using the “Deliver remainder” function

Ship now - Packaging calculation based on Item and transfer quantity setup using the “Ship now” function

For already registered packaging, the setting can be:

All – All registered packaging

Not yet shipped – All registered packaging not yet shipped

Shipped not yet received – All registered packaging shipped, but not yet received

When shipping the transfer order, the calculated type and qty of packaging is shown in the tab page “Outbound packaging” according to qty for the type of update selected. Before updating the shipment including packaging, qty can be changed and packaging Id added or removed manually if needed.

When performing the receive process for transfer orders, the functionality is quite like the process for shipping. The one major difference is that by receiving it is possible to scrap some of the packaging received. 1 When performing the receive process for transfer orders, the functionality is quite like the process for shipping. If scrapping of received packaging is needed, the packaging type for transfer can be changed to “Scrap” for the record. If it is not all the qty that is wanted to be scrapped, a new line can be created for the scrapped qty and the qty for the original must be reduced accordingly.
