CAPA Integration in Advanced Quality and Sample Management

This article describes the new integration between Microsoft Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) management and the Cepheo Advanced Quality and Sample Management module.

CAPA supports structured handling of recurring issues, root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventive actions, follow-up, and closure. For more information, see the Microsoft Learn article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/supply-chain/inventory/capa-overview

Purpose

The purpose of this addition is to make CAPA available from relevant Advanced Quality and Sample Management processes, so users can create or view CAPA cases directly from the quality context they are working in.

Where CAPA Can Be Used

Microsoft CAPA functionality is available from several standard Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management areas, including production orders, purchase orders, sales orders, and non-conformances. From these records, users can create linked CAPA cases or view existing CAPA cases related to the selected record.

The CAPA actions have now been added to selected Cepheo Advanced Quality and Sample Management pages. This allows users to work with CAPA cases from within the QSM process instead of navigating away to standard Microsoft pages.

  • Advanced quality orders: CAPA actions are available from the inquiry page and are linked to the marked Advanced Quality Order. The action is only available when one entry is selected.
  • Quality samples: CAPA actions are available from the General tab and can be used to create or view CAPA cases related to the selected quality sample.

How It Works

  1. Select the relevant Advanced Quality Order or Quality Sample.
  2. Use the CAPA action to create a new linked CAPA case or view existing related CAPA cases.
  3. Handle investigation, corrective action, preventive action, follow-up, and closure in the Microsoft CAPA process.
  4. Return to the QSM record when the quality process continues.

Important Notes

  • The CAPA case is linked to the selected QSM record.
  • The action is disabled if more than one record is selected.
  • The feature depends on Microsoft CAPA being enabled and configured in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management.
