Quality Work Forecasting

Quality Work Forecasting

The goal of this feature is to provide information in terms of the capacity needed for execution of existing and future quality tests, based on planned orders from the master planning.

This is done by creating capacity reservations for the resource(s) that would be needed, based on already existing Advanced quality orders, on which resources and the time consumption for these have been set up.

The simulation will look at already existing quality samples as well as the advanced quality orders they would result in when being registered in lab, plus quality samples and advanced quality orders triggered by planned orders when firmed/registered.

Capacity reservations are performed without any form for planning, therefore the setup of finite capacity for resource groups and resources will not be taken into consideration.

The simulation is based on data in a selected masterplan and is using the same logic from Advanced Quality Associations and Stability Testing as the actual parameters' setup.

Output from running the simulation is:

  • Overview of planned Samples
  • Overview of planned Quality orders (advanced)
  • Reservation of capacity according to tests from planned and actual Quality Orders (advanced)
  • Overview of planned tests (stand alone and from test form)

The simulation is executed for a selected Master plan, and the output is stored for a selected plan which can be the same plan or a secondary Master plan. As basis for the simulation, it can be chosen to use the calculated future dates (if some exist) from the master plan. If this option is not chosen, the simulation will use the delivery date as simulation for inventory receipt.

It can be chosen to see a detailed info log, after the simulation has been run. This can be helpful for controlling the data being calculated but will extend the execution time for the calculation. For daily calculation or setup of Batch job, it is not recommended to use the detailed log.

NOTE: Simulation of samples is only carried out for products using Batch numbers.

Calculation execution

The calculation can be found under [Quality / Periodic / Planned quality work/ Quality work scheduling] where also a feature for deletion of a calculated work forecasting plan can be performed.

When performing quality work forecasting, all data in the target requirement plan will be deleted automatically before a new calculation is performed.

Execution parameters:

Source Requirement PlanThe masterplan that is used as baseline for calculation of work forecasting
Target Requirement PlanThe masterplan that the calculated work forecasting will be stored into. This can be the same as the source masterplan but can also be another.
Use future dateUse the calculated future dates instead of the delivery date as the baseline for forecasting
Detailed InfologExtend the Infolog to also show all steps the simulation logic is performing.

Planned advanced quality orders and planned samples, are simulated in future time according to the setting up of the advanced quality associations using the following logic:

  • Planned purchase input, is planned according to quantity for the purchase, at time of receiving.
  • Planned purchase input for LP controlled items, is planned according to quantity for each LP, at time of receiving.
  • Planned route operation input for LP controlled items with route setup, is planned according to quantity for each LP, evenly spread over time for the operation in question.
  • Planned production input for LP controlled items with route setup, is planned according to quantity for each LP, evenly spread over time using the last operation as endpoint.
  • Planned production input for LP controlled items without route setup, is planned according to quantity for each LP, evenly spread over time for the production.
  • Planned production input for items without LP setup but with route setup, is planned for the whole quantity at the end of the last operation.
  • Planned production input for items without LP setup and without route setup, is planned for the whole quantity at the end of the production.

The simulation is also taking the following elements into consideration:

  • Existing open future purchase orders
  • Existing open future production orders
  • Postponed days for open advanced quality orders
  • Different time zones for users
  • Difference in calendar setup for lab. section and resources
  • Laboratory deadlines on the calendars.

Start date for planned samples and planned quality orders, will follow planned date for production and purchase, even if this is delayed in time. Capacity reservations will only be made from the date of simulation and ahead, even if the planned date for production and purchase is delayed in time.

Where possible, the required date from the master plan, will be shown on the planned quality order.

Capacity reservation for each resource is spread evenly according to duration time for the test, taking calendar and calendar deviation for lab. Section, deadline, and resource into consideration.

If start time for reservations is in past time, it will be planned to start on date of the simulation.

For one test:MonTueWedThuFri
Capacity for lab section by calendar8 h cap8 h cap8 h cap8 h cap8 h cap
Expected treatment time for test: 18 h8 h duration8 h duration2 h duration
Resource consumption for test: 3 h1 h res1 h res1 h res

NOTE: This feature is not carrying out any kind of planning , only simulation and capacity reservation for testing purposes for the current single company account in question.

When a new calculation/simulation is done, all data from the previous calculation/simulation will automatically be removed.

NOTE: If you get the following error message:

Figure 107: Error message for missing setup

Please check your message log (action center) as this is due to missing setup on released products, calendars etc. that prevents the job from generating simulation data – If nothing is show try to activate job again with the field 'Detailed Infolog' check marked:

Calculation result

Output from the quality simulation can be found under [Quality / Inquiries / Quality work forecasting].

Here the result is presented in 3 forms showing:
  • Planned quality orders (advanced)
  • Planned quality order lines (advanced)
  • Planned samples

When the forms are opened the results are presented for the master plan setup as the current plan, but other plans can be chosen. The default master plan for simulation is setup in [Quality / Setup / Advanced quality control/fast tab Quality Work forecasting/field Masterplan]

When forecasting the quality work, the simulation will insert calculated values for Batch-Id and LP-id. These values are used during all simulations and can be used to trace a planned sample being registered and leading to planned quality order and planned quality order lines.

Figure 109: Planned samples

The reservation of capacities can be accessed from the forms or by use of the standard tools available for Resources and Resource groups in the [Organization administration / Resources] area – or directly from the forms showing planned quality orders or actual quality orders.

Figure 110: Planned quality orders

Capacity reservations simulated for tests can be found from several places in the system, as listed below:

  • Resource group
  • Resource
  • Planned advanced quality orders - header
  • Planned advanced quality orders – line
  • Advanced quality orders - header
  • Advanced quality orders – lines
  • Test groups
