Fail immediately

Functionality overview - Fail immediately

Cepheo Quality and Sample Management introduces a functional toggle called Fail immediately within the Advanced Quality Orders framework. This feature is designed to speed up the detection of non‑conforming batches by allowing an advanced quality order to be marked as Completed out of spec immediately when a critical test (the test flagged as Priority 1) fails.

The Fail immediately feature provides greater agility in quality management by ensuring that non-conforming batches are flagged in the system the moment a critical failure is detected. This reduces lead times for quality decision-making and prevents unnecessary delays in processing quality orders that have already failed their primary release criteria.

This feature has practical application when the advanced quality order contains more than one Priority 1 test.

Configuration - Fail immediately

1. Configure the Test Group

  • Open the Test group form.
  • On the General tab, locate the option Auto validate priority one lines.
  • Set this toggle to Yes.

This ensures that Priority 1 test lines are automatically validated when a critical failure occurs.

For the functionality to execute, an advance quality order must have the Auto validate priority one lines parameter enabled at the test group header.

2. Configure the Test for Advanced Quality Control

In the same Test group, select the specific test you want to treat as critical.

  • Go to the Advanced quality control tab.
  • Set the Fail immediately flag to Yes.

This marks the test as a critical test whose failure will trigger immediate validation and update the order phase.

Operational Process - Fail immediately
  1. If one or more tests assigned Priority 1 are flagged as Fail immediately and their registered results are found to be "out of spec," the system will immediately initiate the validation process for all Priority 1 lines.
  2. In this event, the Advanced quality order phase will immediately transition to Completed out of spec. The system will not wait for the remaining Priority 1 tests to have results registered before making this phase update.
Even after the phase is updated to "Completed out of spec," users retain the ability to enter results for the remaining tests if required for documentation purposes
