Advanced quality work when merging batches (reference type = Inventory)

Dawid Kaczmarek Updated by Dawid Kaczmarek

Standard you can only create quality work (orders) for inventory ‘movements’ i.e. receiving a purchase order, reporting as finished on a production order etc. Although the reference type ‘Inventory’ is visible on standard and adv. Quality orders, there hasn’t been any functionality linked to this type as it is not a ‘movement’ meaning it doesn’t link to a receipt or even an issue action. There is, however, a requirement for being able to able to take out samples and have them result in adv. Quality orders when merging batches, this process is e.g. used when transferring a portion of 2 or more batches into another container: Combining 2 or more batches into a new batch. When using the standard functionality for merging batches the traceability is complied with as the merge results in the creation of a Bill of material journal (report as finished) where the batch(es) being transferred FROM are deducted (minus qty- her B01 and B02)) and the batch that the batches are merged TO is the received/purchased (plus qty – her MergedB01)), which is the line you would want to take out a sample for, that may result in an advanced quality order.

To the Bill of material journal, a new menu item button ‘Quality sample’ has been added to the Functions menu button. The menu item button is accessible from the journal or the lines:

![The data for the sample creation will be taken from receiving line (i.e. the batch that the other batches are merged into).

NOTE: The BOM journal needs to be posted before creating a sample, otherwise the qty on a possible Adv. Quality order if triggered when sample is registered in lab will be blank, as the qty used is the on hand of the item + dimensions.](../images/image_227.png)

If you have an advanced quality association of type ‘Quality sample’ for reference type ‘Inventory’ you can be registering in lab (manually or automatically) trigger the creation of an advanced quality order. You can choose to use the batch merge functionality or simply create the BOM journal lines yourself.
