Data sheets (PIM\Common\Data sheet)

Dawid Kaczmarek Updated by Dawid Kaczmarek

After having defined the document types, possible content and structure, this is where you actually design the specific content for the individual data sheets. You can select the document type, add attributes and groups (paragraph headers), set up specific customer/supplier relations, and you have versioning with approval and activation to control the document life cycle. The menu item here provides a list of datasheets but does not allow for creation of new ones.

Data sheets can be created from the item on the product tab of the released products form, where you can also add the item to data sheet item groups:

Via the data sheet button, the data sheet form is accessed, and it is possible to design and approve new data sheets for the product.

The data sheet form contains different sections:

Action pane:

Action pane:

Name translation controls the document name in various languages.

Notes translation does the same for Notes, if notes are activated on the sheet.

Activate and approve controls the lifecycle of the document. The document will be stamped with "draft" if it is printed before it has been approved.

NOTE: When trying to approve, the validation functions are performed according to setup, and an infolog is opened:

Data sheet report shows the print of the document in its current state.

Datasheet documents define which document type (Data sheet, BCoC or BCoA) the current version is used for. If BCoA and BCoC are linked to the datasheet, it is possible to define their content from the attributes on this datasheet version.

List: The list shows all datasheet versions, with a filter for showing active ones.

Datasheet:

In this section it is possible to see information and define the specific requirements for using this version of the document. This could be customer, vendor, or regional requirements. Approval and activation information is also available and a note for the document can be made. It is also possible to define start and end dates for the version in case new regulatory requirements are being introduced at a specific date. All in all, this logic is very similar to how BOM versions are set up.

Groups:

In this section data sheet groups are added to the document version layout and their sequence can be defined.

Attributes:

In this section it is possible to perform individual setup of the attributes from the selected data sheet group. Their sequence can be modified, and they can be hidden, or values can be defined for this specific document.
