Disposition code not allowed for location

Dawid Kaczmarek Updated by Dawid Kaczmarek

When working in a production environment where inventory locations are setup as production resources (machine consumption locations), it is important to be sure that on-hand moved to the location can be consumed by the production order. To support this situation, the following functionality is available.

For an Inventory location, setup can be done for dispositions codes not allowed for this location.

When setting up specific disposition codes not allowed for a specific location, only Batch or LP without disposition codes matching the setup, can be moved to the location.

If no specific disposition code(s) is set up for Batch or LP on the location, there are no restrictions for the location.

This control will be performed by the inventory module whenever a receipt is updated for a Batch number and/or LP to this location. If the control is failed, the transaction will be stopped, and the user will be shown an error with information of the reason.

Working with the Remote device client, and the control shows up as failed, the user will be given the possibility to change the put location to another valid location and to update the put process again. This is done by setting up the Remote device user to ‘Allow put location override’. If, however, the user chose to cancel out on the put transaction and wants to continue the transaction later, you need to use a menu item function marked YES in the parameter 'Use existing work'

If one of the actions are performed, and the control is passing, the user is not shown any information.

The control is being performed using D365FO as well as the Remote device client, and for locations setup for warehouse management (WHS) as well as locations setup for inventory management (WMS).

The setup of which dispositions codes that are not allowed for a location can be found from the location form. Use the menu [Input blocked disposition codes] to set up the batch disposition codes not to be allowed for the location. In no batch disposition codes are chosen, all batch disposition codes are allowed for the location.

Disposition code for location “Production input”

Usage of on-hand from a production input location, basically is different from other type of locations. In standard 365 a different set of controls is performed specifically for production input locations.

The QSM module is designed having the following flow:

When searching for available on-hand to be moved to the production input location, on-hand with a disposition code not allowed for the production input location will be ignored. That way it is ensured that on-hand moved to a production input location, always is available for consumption. At consumption from a production input location, the disposition code will not be validated and therefore will not be able to block for consumption.

In situation where on-hand stored on production input location do change disposition code to one that is “Unavailable”, the recommendation is to move that on-hand from the production input location to another location when changing the disposition code.
