Setup

Pre-requisites

To activate this advanced flow, where the test results from a sample lead to automatic release of LP, several pre-requisites must be fulfilled in several parts of the system:

  • The time stamp on a sample (sample taken time) must be the actual time when the product was manufactured. This is required by the system to calculate the correct sequence of license plates.
  • The time stamp must be set before the sample is registered in the lab. The registration triggers the control of the previous samples and the possible release of the related license plates.
  • The link between the sample and the batch/LP must be done before the sample is registered in the lab. This is required for the system to be able to release the correct license plates, as the control is triggered upon registration.
  • The license plates manufactured between two samples must follow the license plate sequence principle on the product. The correct sequence is required for the system to be able to automatically release or block the correct license plates in the sequence where samples and testing are not done.
  • It is required that the advanced quality association controlling the creation of quality orders from the samples has been set up according to the desired and correct test frequency. To ensure the correct frequency as well as the correct extended test group in case of a test failure, the setup must be done on the quality association.
  • A license plate can only be released automatically, as long as quality orders with all priority 1 tests passed, exists before and after the LP. The automatic release of license plates ‘between’ two sample points in a sequence requires that the tests, defined with Priority 1 on these, have passed (test result have a passing value), and that no un-registered samples exist for the LP.
  • For the last LP, the correct parameter must be set to ensure that it is also released automatically. The parameter is set on the ‘site’ as described under the Inventory Management pre-requisites.
  • The default disposition code for a license plate must block it. On the item model group it is possible to define the disposition code assigned to an LP, as soon as on-hand inventory is placed on it from production input, through the arrival journal or using a Remote device for registration.
  • The ‘Update disposition dimension’ must be set to ‘License plate sequence’. When working with release sequence where not all LP have samples or test results, the release of LP in the sequence not covered will only be automatically released if using a test group setup to update the disposition code according to the principle ‘License plate sequence.

Reset disposition code for remaining inventory

When having setup adv. quality associations to create samples for e.g., every third license plate and having set up, that registering every 2nd sample to result in a quality order, some license plates may not be covered directly or between 2 samples, that are analyzed through an adv. quality order. This often applies to some of the first or last LP's. This means that they would not be included in the release-functionality of license plates based on adv. quality orders being updated. To be able to include these LPs in the automatic update as well, a parameter can be used (Warehouse management/Setup/Warehouse/Sites/Fast tab Extended setup):

Figure 99: Parameter on Sites to reset disposition code for LP’s prior to and after samples

If un-marked (default value) the license plates that are not directly covered by analyzed samples will NOT be updated in disposition code together with the automatic release process. If marked the first/last LP's will be included as if they were updated directly or in-between analyzed samples.

Defining the license plate sequence

For every item it is possible to define the principle with which license plates are sequenced. This controls how the automatic release mechanism checks the availability of previous license plates.

On the ‘Manage inventory’ area of the released product, a new parameter has been added called ‘License plate sequence principle’. There are three options:

  • License Plate ID – Using this principle, will define that the license plate IDs are sequential.
  • License Plate creation – If there is no number sequence for LP IDs, this principle can be used, if creation in the system is performed ad hoc, the LP’s will then be considered as being in sequence by the creation time stamp of the LP’s.
  • Manual – In scenarios, where license plate IDs are being recycled in production, it is possible to create a completely manual sequence.

The creation of a manual sample sequence is best done from the action pane on the batch itself:

This opens the form, where the license plates (setup as for Manual sequence),

related to the batch can be added and sorted in the wanted sequence. The same form can be accessed from Quality/Common/ Manual sample batch sequences:
