Electronic signature

Standard D365 for finance and operations contains a framework to perform electronic signing of a record. In the following sections, the basic flow is shown, but not all parameters are explained.

When performing the triggering change to a record, the following form comes up, where information can be added, and the signer can be selected (prefilled with current user). Reason codes and comment requirements can be set up under parameters. When pressing ok, the password dialog comes up, where the actual signing is performed:

NOTE: When using the electronic signature framework, it logs all fields related to the signature e.g., 'Approved', 'Approved by' and 'Approved time/date'. This means that you shouldn't also set up these fields to be logged in the database log, as this will result in the signature action to fail.
