Prerequisites and setup

Michał Wasiewicz Updated by Michał Wasiewicz

The BOM/formula line marked for 'Automatic reporting as finished', must be setup for automatic reporting as finished, and the flushing principle must be set to "Finish".

Both Co-products as well as regular bulk products can be setup for "Auto report as finished".

A production/batch order that is to be automatically reported must refer to an item for which the Tracking Dimension Batch is active.

For the production control parameters [Production control / Setup / Production control parameters – Automatic update], it is recommended to have 'Automatic BOM consumption' set to "Flushing principle" when reporting the FP as finished.

If using "Production execution terminal" as interface, the corresponding parameters must be setup for the production execution module.

Production/Batch orders to use the automatic reporting finish of bulk items, must have the same mix pool ID setup for FP- and Bulk product productions.

NOTE: If Batch orders are created by "Firm and consolidate" planned consolidated batch orders, it is important that the global master planning parameter for "Update marking", is set to the value "No", to prevent reservation/marking of bulk consumption. Otherwise, the auto report as finished logic from finished product to bulk product will not be able to run.

Master planning > Setup > Master planning parameters

Released production orders for bulk items must exist within the production mix pool.

When performing reporting as finished for the finished product, the "Accept error" parameter in the reporting as finished journal must be set to "No". -> this is not true. Recommended but not mandatory.

It is possible to automatically report as finished a production order or batch order for an item that has warehouse management processes enabled. In order to use automatic RAF for a WMS-enabled item in a WMS-enabled warehouse, the following conditions must be met for both the production output (finished goods) location and the production input location:

  1. They must be the same be the same location,
  2. The location must be a non-license plate tracking location; the ‘ Use license plate tracking ’ flag mast be set to NO in the assigned Location profile ID,
  3. The location must be assigned a Work policy to prevent creating a work.

Important remarks :

  1. A production/batch order that is to be automatically reported as finished must be for an item with batch tracking enabled.
  2. The solution supports both reservation hierarchies: with batch above and below the location level
  3. In the current version, it is not possible to use the flushing principle 'Available on location'. The only available method is 'Finish'.
A necessary condition for the correct operation of the Auto report as finished functionality is selecting the proper Flushing principle for the BOM/Formula line that should be automatically reported. Currently, the only possible option is Finish. However, when the product consumption comes from a warehouse with Advanced warehouse management enabled, it is also possible to select Available at location in the BOM/Formula definition. While choosing Flushing principle = Manual or Flushing principle = Start causes the system to display an error, it still allows selecting Available at location. To prevent such configuration, a restriction was introduced during the creation of a production BOM/Formula. This restriction automatically changes Available at location to Finish.

Other raw materials for FP and BP to be consumed using automatic report as finished combined with automatic consumption, must be reserved and physical available (standard Dyn365FO). Also, here it must be considered whether these items are going to be automatically consumed (back flushing), or consumption is to be done manually.

If using warehouse-enabled items for automatic consumption, it is important to setup the WHS processes to handle automatic consumption with a minimum of user interface. The following WHS elements must be setup:

  1. Wave templates (type 'Production order')
  2. Work template (type 'Raw material picking')
  3. Warehouse setup (Default production input location)
  4. Location directives (type 'Raw material picking')
  5. Automatic reservation must be setup to be performed at production release as the latest (standard AX).

The functionality of automatic reporting as finished, does support the setup of BOM structure using multiple BOM levels, like the below example. The Structure is shown using the standard Dyn365FO BOM/Formula designer.

When performing reporting as finished for item FP004 and having automatic reporting as finished active for all sub-BOM's and all productions in the same mix-pool, the Infolog will show how the automatic reporting as finished process is performed within the mix-pool.
